Mil spec is an abbreviation of military specification and is the common term for electrical connectors built for military use. Mil spec wiring is different than other kinds because it has to be designed with extreme conditions in mind. Mil spec wires must be resistant to:

*Abrasion
*Fire
*Grease
*High speeds
*Moisture
*Dirt and dust
*Explosive Shock
*Extreme temperatures
*Different kinds of flexing
